Wander US LLC operates Moments in the Miles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Plain language, no tricks.
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data: pages visited, time on page, general location (country/region), and device type. This data helps us understand what content is useful to readers. We also count when the site’s own tools get used, for example that someone opened a door on Start Here, drew a map, or signed up from a particular page. Those are counts only: we never record which places you pick on a map, or anything you type. Google Analytics may use cookies to track return visits. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
Newsletter. If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address, and a note of which form you used, for example the one offering our Southeast Asia route sheet, so we know what you asked for and can send it. If you ask us to email you a route from the planner or a map you made, the link to it goes along with your email address, because that link is the thing we are sending you. If you ask us a question through the box on one of our guides, your question is stored with your email address so we can answer it. We use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to store that and send updates, which means your email is held on their servers under their privacy policy. Kit’s script runs on this site and may set a cookie. We do not sell or share your email with third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Affiliate links. Some pages on this site carry affiliate links to travel booking partners, and our gear page links to Amazon. If you click one and go on to book or buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. To make that work, the partner typically sets a cookie in your browser so a later booking can be credited back to us. That cookie belongs to them, is governed by their privacy policy, and we do not receive your booking details, payment information, or personal data from it, only aggregate reporting on whether a booking or purchase happened.
Every page carrying an affiliate link says so on the page itself. We only link to places we would send a friend, and a link never changes what we write.
Contact form. The form on our Work With Us page collects your name, email address, optional organization, and your message. It is processed by Netlify Forms, which stores the submission and emails it to us. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else.
Purchases. The Leave Anyway Kit is sold through Gumroad. Gumroad handles the entire checkout, including your payment details. We never see or store your card information. What we receive is the record of the sale and the email address you purchased with, so we can deliver the product and support it. Gumroad’s own privacy policy governs their handling of your data.
Hosting. This site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (including IP addresses) as part of delivering and protecting the site.
Cookies, in one place. The cookies set through this site come from Google Analytics, Kit, and our affiliate partners, as described above. Affiliate partners set theirs only if you click one of their links. We do not set advertising cookies of our own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work, the newsletter form included, and analytics will not count your visit. If we ever add display advertising, we will update this policy before it goes live.
No data selling. We do not sell personal data. Full stop.
Your choices. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, block cookies in your browser, and use Google’s opt-out add-on to exclude yourself from Analytics entirely. If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, email us at hey@momentsinthemiles.com and we will sort it out.
Children. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes. We update this policy when what the site does changes. The date below tells you when we last did.
